- Important Installation Tip... The SunBriteTV LCD TVs are designed for permanent outdoor residential and commercial installation. The corrosion-resistant, powder-coated aluminum exterior protects the internal TV components from rain, dirt, insects and other outdoor elements; however, we recommend that they be installed in a shaded area for best and most comfortable viewing. The screen is not intended to face directly into the sun as it is a large solar collector and the build up of heat in the LCD panel due to sunlight hitting the screen causes the LCD fluid to stop responding, thus you will begin to see black spots that will spread until the TV is moved out of the direct sunlight or the sun moves off the screen. We always recommend that users mount the TV on an articulating mount and to turn the screen away from the sun. When the TV is positioned so that the screen doesnt face the sun, the internal fans will lower the LCD temperature and the black spots will go away. There is NO long-term damage to the LCD or the TV when the spots occur. Our experiments indicate that turning the screen 45 to 60 degrees away from the direct sun will cure the problem, which is more acute in the morning and afternoon when the suns rays are at a shallow angle and can more easily fall perpendicular to the screen.
